New Sydney Fish Market - UPDATE
The new Sydney Fish Market officially opened on Monday 19 January 2026. Located in Blackwattle Bay, it is a major new waterfront destination for fresh seafood, dining and public experiences.
Designed by internationally acclaimed Danish architects 3XN/GXN, in collaboration with BVN and Aspect Studios, and built by Multiplex, the new market combines architectural excellence, public art, and open spaces. It preserves the authentic seafood market experience while introducing state-of-the-art facilities, expanded retail, dining, and cultural spaces.
The market is managed by Sydney Fish Market Pty Ltd and Placemaking NSW.

The new Sydney Fish Market stands as a cultural landmark for Sydney, transforming a working waterfront into a vibrant public space for foodies, tourists, and locals. It features over 6,000sqm of public open space and a waterfront promenade connecting to the 15km Sydney foreshore walk from Rozelle Bay to Woolloomooloo.
